Will the XM25 replace the M203 Grenade launchers Essay

Will the XM25 replace the M203 Grenade launchers - Essay ExampleThe military denies the rumors, but peradventure it might be better to consider the criteria of reliability, durability and affordability of twain systems to prove that the XM-25 grenade launcher will not replace the M203. The reliable old M203 Grenade Launcher has proved itself in just ab turn up every corner of the world. Over twenty countries friendly to the United States employ the M203, or a variant thereof. Manufactured by Colt, the M203 has seen combat with the US from the humid jungles of Viet Nam right on through to the present day in the Middle Eastern deserts, along with its newer counterpart, the M203A1 (for the M4). The launcher has proven super reliable in all manners of weather conditions and weigh in at light 3 pounds. On the other hand, the XM25 Counter Defilade Target work System shows its reliability in its characteristics. It is currently being manufactured by German arms giant Heckler and Koch, in partnership with the US ground Alliant Tech Systems (ATK). The weapon does indeed resemble something futuristic and at fourteen pounds with rounds it is much heavier than the M203. Yet the modern advances of the launcher atomic number 18 incredible. For one thing it has an similar magazine that holds up to four rounds, so single shot is no longer an obstacle. For another, instead of the old-fashioned quadrant sights on previous grenade launchers, the XM25 is fitted with a thermic sight device resembling a scope, with night capabilities. The M203 has showed its durability since it replaced the M79, which was a stand-alone weapon and the grenade launcher was its singular purpose. Recognizing that the grenadier was vulnerable during a rousefight, the US soldiery developed the M203. Its over and under style fit under the standard M16 rifle (and later under the newer M4), therefore giving the soldier the ability to fire grenades at a range of up to 350 meters and still having the small arms capability and reassurance offered by the M16. The grenadiers rate of fire for the launcher was hampered further by his own ability to load the weapon, as it fires one round at the time. Its large bore makes cleaning relatively easy and the unit artisan prat do most maintenance on the weapon, including disassembly and removal. Eight different forty millimeter grenade types have been developed for the launcher. 1 However it is what the sights are fitted into that makes the XM25 so durable and has the Army gushing as to its valuable assistance in the GWOT. The Target Acquisition Fire Control System (TAFCS) allows the operator to aerate the round down range with radio controlled precision. For example, grenadier can take out an enemy firing from inside a window, adjusting the range so that the grenade can go through the frame, explode, and still maintain the integrity of the building. The XM25 uses a 25 millimeter grenade system that even includes a thermobaric grenade specific for use in caves, specially useful in Afghanistan and the launcher is accurate at ranges of up to 700 meters. Finally, the cost of the M203 is very affordable in comparison to the XM-25. The M203 is only $1800.00 dollars. If combat tests work out with the division, the Army plans to buy 12,500 units of the XM25 in 2012, one for each squad. At over $30 thousand a copy the XM25 is expensive, as are the rounds at $25 apiece. The cost almost doubles from one to the other. This alone is a serious increase in budget cost, and can be a huge predicament for the economy. Even after all the aforementioned, the XM25 will not replace the M203. Although the 101st grenadiers are so impressed with it they often carry no extra weaponry. Indeed, both weapons will

Analyse the role of the Israel lobby in the conflict between Israel Essay

Analyse the role of the Israel lobby in the scrap between Israel and Palestinians - Essay ExampleThe truth as examined from a political, social and historical perspective strongly favors the former view that the Lobby has pressured, through various channels and organisations, a position that favors Israel over the Palestinians and has thus thwarted for years the stay effort in the region. As Massing bluntly asserts At its core is the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which is ranked second after the National bare Association (along with the AARP) in the National Journals 2005 listing of Washingtons most powerful lobbies. AIPAC, they write, serves as a de facto agent for a foreign government. The , they say, is also associated with Christian evangelicals such as Tom DeLay, Jerry Falwell, and Pat Robertson neoconservatives both Jewish (Paul Wolfowitz, Bernard Lewis, and William Kristol) and gentile (John Bolton, William Bennett, and George Will) think tanks (the Wa shington Institute for Near East Policy, the American Enterprise Institute, the Hudson Institute) and critics of the press such as the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America. (Massing, 2011 par. 1) The Myth of Influence It is important to get that much of what has been currently published favors the notion that the Lobby, particularly in the United utters, has controlled its foreign policy in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In light of this, it is important to present views that send packing this notion before looking at the wealth of other information and opinions that do not. It is also important to remember that much of the defense comes from the Jewish alliance and government officials, just as some of the strongest in opposition comes from non-Jewish and Jewish alike, including a highly regarded social and political philosopher, Noam Chomsky. The reality of this may in itself tell that opinions regarding the argument depend largely on the position of the interlocutor and whom or what he or she is striving to defend. It is interesting to note that former Secretary of State under Ronald Reagan, George P. Schultzs defense of Israel is surprisingly emotional, surreptitiously alluding to the Holocaust, tying criticism to an anti-Semitic catalog of lies Defaming the Jews by disputing their rightful place among the peoples of the world has been a long-running, well-documented, and bootleg series of episodes across history. Again and again a time has come when legitimate criticism slips across an invisible line into what might be called the badlands, a place where those who should be regarded as worthy adversaries in debate are turned into scapegoats, targets, all-purpose objects of blame. (Schultz, 2007 par. 1-2) Schultzs apology is also surprisingly incoherent in that he uses the unworkable analogy that if the U.S., as the largest consumer of oil, was on anyones side, it would on that of the Arabs, who have all of the oil. (Schultz, 2007). This argument for anyone who understands the business side of oil and the history of the conflict knows that no Arab country has ever truly stepped up to defend the Palestinian cause or threatened an oil embargo on either the US or Britain for not properly defending the Palestinians. Historically, this has always been the case and has eliminated concerns on the part of

According to Grill, Babst, and Pierceson (51), opposition to both same-sex marriage and same-sex relationships is most often defended for religious reasons and that both religion and sexual orientation are regarded, in theory, as private matters. Thus heterosexuality is considered the norm, and t hose whose practices, beliefs and identities diverge from the norm are marginalized, by being prevented from fully participating in public while open about their identities and beliefs. Christianity bases its moral stand on same-sex marriage on the biblical theory that one woman was created for one man, and that is thusly the way nature intended it. Business Information Systems - Essay ExampleAs the demand for BMW products increases, the firm has benefited from a positive relationship with its customers including non boat owners. To mark off that its operations are smooth and that the needs of its customers are met, BMW copys mingled departments that include finance, warehousing, manufacturing, human resources, marketing, and distribution among others. ERP is a vital information system that enhances the flow of information between all the departments within a firm as well as with other stakeholders (OBrien, 1999). Based on the need to satisfy its customers by providing their products in a timely manner, it is imperative for BMW to allot in place a two-tier ERP. This entails use of software and hardware that will allow the company to run two ERP concurrently. For example, BMW should establish production centers in various regions thus reducing the time taken to deliver the raw ma terials to the main production center. Similarly, the company should establish a database that has the information such as the earphone numbers of the individuals responsible to delivering the raw materials as well as their emails. In this way, the company will be in a position to track the transference of raw materials from the suppliers to the subsidiaries production centers or to the main production center. Cost benefit analysis and online accounts Being a manufacturing company, BMW should not overlook the composition of their workforce. Key problem that is currently been experienced in the manufacturing department is that it is un drop dead how many staff the company require to meet the increased demand for its products. To address this issue, it is vital for BMW to emulate an effective scheduling of its activities. This entails allocating each of the employees a particular task and the actual time that it requires for it to be accomplished. To identify the number of workers r equired in the manufacturing department, it is essential for the supervisors to meet a cost-benefit analysis that entails computing the cost of producing a single component and the benefits arising (Laudonet al, 2009). This can be done by determining the hourly wage for the employees and the sales arising from the products. In this way, the supervisors will notice the components that are generating more profits thus increasing the number of staff. My initial observations had already revealed that the course highlighted some practical aspects of the corporate world. I often recall the story of one of my geniuss, who had found a respectable duty in a reputed corporation. She was skilled and sincere and she belonged from an ethnic minority community. At work, her ethnic and sexual identity gradually emerged as her drawback. Her superior, who was also a instalment of the board of directors, often harassed her sexually during the duty hours. At first, she complained to the Human Resource (HR) Manager, but her application was not processed. The HR Manager took it as a trivial issue and her superior continued to harass h er even before her colleagues. In the department, her colleagues were all males and those who belonged from her community were on work visa. Therefore, nobody protested either callable to racial contempt or because of fear. Finally, when she warned her superior and the HR Manager that she would seek police intervention and write to the human rights groups, she was sacked on the plea of stealing and a false complaint was lodged against her. Consequently she lost her job and could not proceed to court lest she was blacklisted in the industry. The lesson learned from such stories as that of my unfortunate friend is that ethnic minority women have almost no voice in the HR management system. Through the lecture on ethnic minority women and the suggested readings, my thoughts and confirmatory experiences regarding discrimination against ethnic minority women were reinforced. Compulsory education Essay Example for Free

absolute study EssayThe K-12 pedagogy dodge is the public fosterage system that most people are well-known(prenominal) with today. Comprised of 13 grades, kindergarten through 12th, it refers to the public school system in all of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and parts of Europe as well. It is difficult to pinpoint the fine history of education, as it has been occurring in some form for centuries in all parts of the world.Today, K-12 education represents the compulsory education needed of all children in the US. though this type of education can be attained from either publicly or privately funded institutions, children who have reached compulsory school age (ranging from age six-spot to eight, depending on the state) are required by law to visualise school. Compulsory education in the United States began over 150 years ago when Horace Mann schematic a statewide system of education in Massachusetts, which became the stolon state to pass school atten dance laws in 1852. By 1918, children were required by law to arrest an education in all states.Kindergarten was actually developed prior to compulsory education. Though it is not compulsory in all states, children are required to start school in most states at the age of six. If the child is too young to start kindergarten the year he turns five, kindergarten may technically be required since he will be turning six that school year. The word kindergarten is of German origin and means childrens garden. The concept was the brainchild of Friedrich Froebel, a self-educated philosophical teacher, who sought to develop a place of guided play for children to bloom. The first kindergarten established in England was in 1852, and the United States followed by establishing its first in 1856. Though education was required of all children in Massachusetts by that time and many other states were following suit, not all schools provided, nor required, kindergarten.Similarly, not all schools requi red a student to stay in school beyond a certain grade, as compulsory education initially utilise only to elementary aged children. Many children were as well permitted to miss portions of theschool year, especially farmers children who were needed at home for harvesting crops and preparing for the winter. The reading subroutine of 1918, or the Fisher Act, was an act of British Parliament that implemented changes in progressive education and helped form many aspects of the K-12 education system used today. The Fisher Act raised the age at which children could leave school to 14 and addressed education needs, such as health inspections and accommodations for special needs children. This act also led to the development of a committee that reported to and made recommendations to policy makers regarding education. In the United States, unlike England, public education was governed by each case-by-case state. As early as 1791, seven states had specific provisions for education in thei r own individual constitutions and were formed partly on the basis of education without religious bias. Prior to the passing of compulsory school attendance laws, education was primarily localized and gettable only to the wealthy, and it often included religious teachings. pastime the compulsory attendance laws, Catholics banned together in opposition of states mandating common schooling and created private Catholic schools. In 1925, the Supreme Court rule that children could attend public or private schools for education.Over time, each individual state developed its own department of education to oversee the public education system. Compulsory attendance grew to include kindergarten and mandate attendance through the age of 16. Funding bloodlines for public education also grew to include federal, state and local sources. Federal accompaniment was overseen by the United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare from 1953 to 1979, until it was divided and the US Depar tment of Education was formed as a stand-alone entity.By the 1950s, compulsory education had become well established, but the K-12 education system was really still in its infancy. Schools were still primarily localized, but education was no longer available only to the wealthy. Even in the 1950s, however, segregation by race was still common practice in public schools in the US. Then came another drainage area decision bythe Supreme Court. In 1954, in the US Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, the Supreme Court ruled unanimously that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. Though this decision was met with resistance and it took many years before legalized segregation was completely eliminated, especially in southern states, the federal courts eventually achieved success. This achievement was not without its repercussions, and many urban and inner city schools saw an exodus of wealthy and middle-class white families, who locomote to suburban districts. In time, many urban districts were left only with poor families and it became difficult to attract and pay for quality teachers and education.Since the formation of the US Department of Education in 1979, the education system has been similar to what is found today, but has undergone a series of developments and amendments to accommodate the changing needs of education. Funding has always been a source of concern for public schools, especially in poor, urban districts, where the quality of education also came into question. As a result, federal funding is now directly related to school performance as determined by standardized testing under the current No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). NCLB was sign into law by President George W. Bush 3 January 2002. Under this law, standards of accountability were increased in an effort to improve performance and to give parents flexibility in choosing schools.NCLB requires states to administer assessments of basic skills to all students at certain grade levels and achieve the standards set forth by each state in order to receive federal funding. Specific and more rigorous goals were placed on reading achievements under this law and states also had to develop high school exit or graduation exams with specific measures of assessment in place as well. The intention was to hold schools to a higherlevel of accountability, but was debated from its inception.Currently, the K-12 public education system provides a 12th grade education to eligible students for free. Families have the option of sending their children to private schools, but are then responsible for tuition. The future of education will undoubtedly experience change and social and economical challenges, just as it has in the past. Programs may soon expand to include pre-K compulsory attendance and could even expand to include options beyond the 12th grade, as these are concepts, in their earliest stages, currently being explored.

Supporting Children and Young People EssayP1. Describe how one bodily process/experience realizes the communication and intellectual learning of a youngster or young person. (P8)I recently sat with a group of kidskinren aged 2-4 years in the book corner during group time, the children were only combat-ready in a story/singing activity also using puppets. in that location were two of these which the children participated in, they were five weensy ducklings and the other(a) was, There was an old bird who sw deed overed a fly. For the activity one child held the book, another child held the main puppet and the other children in the group each had a puppet or two to hold. The children then all sang the song There was an old lady who swallowed a fly ,the lady also swallows other animals so the children be intimate letting there puppet get eaten by the old lady. This activity would support communication and intellectual discipline, because the children all need to communi cate with each other deciding who is going to take what role the song/story also inspection and repairs develop listening skills. The children need to listen and think nearly what get on withs next and purpose when it is their turn to either hide their duckling or let the old lady swallow their animal this is the intellectual part of the activity. Every child is varied further this activity may cover a specific aspect to support a childs individual communicational or intellectual development need.P2. Describe how one resource or type of equipment supports the physical development of a child or young person. (p8)I ask chosen to dumbfound up an obstacle course for the children to complete making decisions about slip musical mode to travel from one end of the number line to the other, they will be fetching the jeopardy to balance along tyres trying not fall off. They will then need to walk along the wooden bridge d take in the locomote collecting a conker from the bowl, p osting it down the drain pipe, watching it roll out into the empty container. This activity is aimed to support a specific Childs interests and needs aged 3-4 years. This activity will support physical development through with(predicate) some(prenominal) fine motor skills and gross motor skills allowing them to take a risk and challenge within the health and safety boundaries. By this I mean that I have not created something that will be dangerous yes they may toddle and take a tumble but the obstacle course I have created is within safety regulations. The fine motor skills will be immaculate by find faulting up the conkers and using their hand to roll them down the drain pipe. The gross motor skills will be completed through their movements both across the tyres and bridge as well as using there travelling techniques such as hopping running jumping across the number spots. During this activity the children will also be using their intellectual skills to think about the ways they will travel along and judging how risky it is to go across the tyres. Here is a plan I have drawn of how the obstacle course would look.P3. Identify ways the practitioner washbasin support the emotional development of the child or young person.(P8)Practitioners can support the emotional development of a child by building up a relationship with the p arnts. They could enthral home fact sheets and all about me books for the parents and children to create including photos, pictures, drawings and study about the childs see interests. This could be information about their favourite things such as what they like to eat, characters they are interested in, what they like to do at home , where they like to play for example outside or in the sandpaper pit. Practitioners have the important role of making sure that all childrens needs are met as every child is different not all children will need the same support. It is the practitioners job to support the Childs emotional developmen t they may use singing and stories, whilst comforting the child as a distraction from being upset and thinking about home. Each child is given a practitioner who is known as their key work uper. The key worker is the practitioner who has majority of responsibility of making sure the childs development needs are being met but also having a strong bond with the child to be able to give one to one attention to for emotional support. Furthermore the practitioner can use the information found from the parents about the child to help them to settle , they can take their key interests into consideration and plan activities based around the key interest to support the development of the child. For example when the child has to separate from carer they may be rather emotional but you could take a key interest such as likes to play with trains into consideration and get out the train set using this as a distraction. to a fault use appropriate language such as mummy will be back after lunch do nt worry , talk about the fun things you have planned to do that day guideing the child what they would like to where they want to play.P4. Describe ways the practitioner can use care routines to support the development of children aged 0-3 years. (P8)There are several ways Practitioners can are routines to support the development for children aged 0-3 years. It is important that you communicate with a child whilst changing them. Discuss what youre doing Im going to wipe your bottom make sure that it is nice and clean so its not sore. When dressing them say what your doing allowing the child to know whats going on. Sing songs to the children, if they are slightly older have a conversation with them. Practitioners use encouraging language during step by step daily routines such as, before snack and meal times dont forget to wash your pass on with soap. Sometimes we use little rhymes and songs to encourage and help the children with the routine. For example wash, wash, wash your hand s, wash, wash, wash your hands, lets wash the germs away. Do the same with drying their hands. This helps to support the childs independence allowing them to do it for themselves with a practitioners encouragement before collecting their own cups, plates and name cards for meal times. Practitioners can also support development through care routines by allowing the child to have a try at wiping their own bottom after going to the toilet, reminding them to flush the chain and wash their hands not forgetting to use soap. When potty training practitioners should give lots of praise and acknowledge that the child has tried to use the toilet even with help or if they have had no accidents, but also comforting the child if they do have an accident. Perhaps use sticker charts as encouragement.P5. Describe how the setting can effectively support the child through one transition.(P8)I am currently in a position where I am supporting a child through a transition. They are moving from the baby means into the big room consisting of children aged 2-4years. Each child will have their own individual plan with information about ways we can support them through their transition. It will need to include care plans, routines, key interests and useful tips in ways which we can help and support the child through their transition. Practitioners will support the children through their transition on the understanding that every child is different and one transition may be more successful and the child may settle sooner than expected. However it could also be the total diametrical and another child may take longer to settle than another, but this proves the differences between childrens development stages.I have experienced such ways of supporting a transition, rather than carrying the child around all the time allow encourage them to walk holding your hand. Allow them to come for cuddles and except that they may want to be with you whilst they are through into the new room. I have r ecently supported a child where when they were near the gate to the baby room they thought about going back in but I diverted their attention by using some of their key interests to engage them in an activity instead. To support a childs transition you need to prepare for them to be emotional and need 11 support. To begin with allow the child to come through and have meal times at the table with the big children, and then once they seem to settle encourage them to come through for half an hour to an hour a day increasing the length of the stay one they are stable in the room. Perhaps fix with using their key interests allowing them to want to come through, play and engage with the older children. When the child is through into the new room allow them to explore give them options and choices ask them where they would like to play, who they would like to play with.P6. Describe how effective communication supports all areas of development (P8). Practitioners and parents can support chi ldrens all round development through effective communication. By this I mean being a good role model as children pick up on what you say and do. Also speak clearly to the children allow them to have their say and take time to listen to them, use eye contact ,facial expressions and dont interrupt when they are talking as this could is likely to knock their confidence and self-esteem.When talking to the child think about the tone of voice you need and the way you need to oppose to a situation but using a cross tone of voice all the time will affect the child and think that they have done something wrong causing their confidence and self-esteem to be lowered. Practitioners and parents need to have time to communicate whether it be a quick chat at drop off and collection times or a parent consultation, but it is important that they share relevant information about the child to help support the childs development.Furthermore practitioners try their best to support the childrens developm ent in all areas to do this they need to think about the ways they say and do things and the way to respond to the child. If a child was to pronounce something incorrectly it is not appropriate for the practitioner to respond to the child by saying thats wrong you say it like this. As that will knock the childs confidence and put them off talking. The correct way to help them would be to repeat what the child has said but repeat it correctly for the child to hear how you say it correctly and then they will pick up on that. For example if a child was to say nana pwease you as a practitioner would say yes you can have a banana as you used your manners and said please. This helps the child to hear how you say the phrase correctly. It is down to the parents/carers and practitioners to effectively communicate with the children which will support them through all round development. Practitioners will plan around the childs individual needs looking at their strengths and weaknesses selectin g an area in which they will need to come about and ways in which the setting can support them as an individual.P7. Describe the role of three other professionals whom you may work with. One of the professionals whom I may work with would be a patois and language therapist. Their role is to work with individual children who have been referred by doctors and early years workers due to parents and practitioners concern of their speech and language development, to improve their speech. Speech and language therapists are the people who alongside practitioners will use their skills to support the child needs. As a practitioner I use my knowledge and give the opportunity for all children to join in Mr Big mouth activity which is a sound game. Speech therapists will work with the individual child on a one to one basis maybe twice a week for an hour to help with the childs speech development. Another professional whom I may work with would be a health visitor.
